Summary

This is one of the best romantic suspense books that I have ever read！ From the very beginning， it was captivating， with a scene from a home that was as mesmerizing as it was devastatingly awful。 The story of Ava Jackson meeting up with her childhood crush Caden Denning was fascinating， but the crux of the story was a serial killer who was wiping out entire families， including the young children。 The motive behind these evil actions is the center of the story and what kept me reading at a rapid This is one of the best romantic suspense books that I have ever read！ From the very beginning， it was captivating， with a scene from a home that was as mesmerizing as it was devastatingly awful。 The story of Ava Jackson meeting up with her childhood crush Caden Denning was fascinating， but the crux of the story was a serial killer who was wiping out entire families， including the young children。 The motive behind these evil actions is the center of the story and what kept me reading at a rapid pace to find out。 From the first murders until the breathtaking last scenes， this was a non-stop runaway train of a book。 The details of the crime scenes are not graphic so they did not disturb me， but just the thought that entire families were wiped out instantly was enough to make me want to do who would do such a thing。 The plot is wrapped up in international intrigue and Ava’s secretive father is involved in a great deal of what is happening， so she seems to be a focus of the killer， too。 Caden is her self-appointed protector and a real hero just when she needs one。 With her father declared dead， her mom dying and a killer on her trail， Ava decides to trust Caden with her life。 The characters were realistic and well-rounded， the type of person I would want to meet and be friends with。 I was enthralled by the work that the FBI analysts did， especially Daria， who was intuitive as to needs and how to find solutions when there seemed to be none。 I enjoyed seeing the FBI portrayed as capable heroes as they should be。 I especially enjoyed Ava’s intelligence in figuring out puzzles and clues left behind by her father as well as her grit and determination to seek the truth at all costs。 There were definitely some unlikeable characters， but that is by design， because who can like a villain who kills families or anyone involved with him？ I just loved this book from cover to cover and think that is is the best of the series although any of them can be read as a standalone。 My favorite part of the book？ It was a clean read！ No expletives， steamy sex or graphic displays of violence。 Kudos to the author for writing explosively good romantic suspense that appeals to readers who don’t want any of the distasteful elements in their books。 DisclaimerDisclosure of Material Connection: I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell via Netgalley。 I was not required to write a positive review。 The opinions expressed are my own。 I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR， Part 255， “Guides Concerning the Use of Testimonials and Endorsements in Advertising。” 。。。more

This was an exciting， fast page turning， book。 Romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres。 I was drawn in pretty quickly and made short work of finishing it。 I would say this is a 90% stand alone book。 There are a couple of events referenced （that really have no bearing on the story） that I would have liked to know the backstory of。 This was good enough to make me want to find the first 3 books。

Thank you in advance to the publisher， Revell （a division of Baker Books）， for providing an advanced review copy through Library Thing。 A positive review was not required nor requested and all words are my own。 I won the second book Acceptable Risk from Library Thing last year， and knowing they were part of a series， I bought Collateral Damage （Brooke’s story） from Amazon。 I have not read that book （even now）。 Acceptable Risk （Sarah’s story） was a non-stop action read。 I also won Active Defense Thank you in advance to the publisher， Revell （a division of Baker Books）， for providing an advanced review copy through Library Thing。 A positive review was not required nor requested and all words are my own。 I won the second book Acceptable Risk from Library Thing last year， and knowing they were part of a series， I bought Collateral Damage （Brooke’s story） from Amazon。 I have not read that book （even now）。 Acceptable Risk （Sarah’s story） was a non-stop action read。 I also won Active Defense （Heather's story） from Library Thing， which was also a non-stop thrill ride of a read。 So， imagine my surprise to win Hostile Intent to complete the series！ As this is part of a series， expect to see the characters from the previous three books be mentioned or appear – Brooke， Sarah （spoiler alert for her in this book）， Heather， Asher， Gavin， and Travis also appear as does Zane。While the books COULD probably be standalone reads， I really enjoyed reading them from #2 on。 I still have to get #1 read。 And， this is definitely like the other two with short chapters and no shortage of action。 I needed to catch my breath after reading it。 This had some J*A*G vibes to it with the Navy and C。I。A plots。This is just as thrilling， engaging， edge-of-your-seat， intense， and an explosive read as Acceptable Risk and Active Defense were。 And， this too has short chapters to keep the reader going。Since this is Ava’s story it mainly focuses on her – though unlike the other books， not right away。The beginning was a bit … creepy。 And， word of note – if the death or killing of kids is bothersome， then I would read with caution。 That was about the only problem I had。 Eason doesn’t， thankfully， go into graphic details though。Unlike the previous two books （and likely the first one）， this is told from THREE POVs – Ava， Caden， and the antagonist （Nicolai）。FBI Special Agent Caden Denning （Sarah’s brother） is investigating serial murders and one connection leads to Ava Jackson。 Ava’s father recently went missing， presumed dead。 And， there’s a reason for the secrecy surrounding his death。 One that might be connected to the other murders， though how is for the two to find out。After Ava is attacked after visiting her mom at a nursing home， Caden not only vows to protect her， but he sort of needs her for the investigation。Ava begins recalling events surrounding her father and his “work” – some memories going back to a mysterious break-in。 There’s also someone who knew her dad and is trying to recruit Ava to step up。Caden then guesses what Ava’s father did and that takes his investigation to a dramatic new level。 In addition， one of the survivors is being hunted down and his grandfather refuses to tell Caden and Ava what is going on。Some answers lie with Paul Jackson， Ava’s deceased father， and since he loved puzzles – they definitely have to solve one。It seems， more and more， Paul has a connection to the families – though the why remain a mystery。 And， Ava is pretty sure her father had an alias or is using one。Despite each lead they think they’ve found; they don’t end up any further ahead。 There is also little time for romance， though there is a joke about Ava and dating – no one gets a second or third date。 She just doesn’t date。 And， her father's job is one reason as to why。 The connection between the families was a bit cliché， still it did work， and it did make me pause for a moment to see how much one person's choice can affect a lot of people。 Eason keeps the readers in suspense with surprises thrown in。She wraps up the series in a great way – big ending， and with a bit of humor。I will have to admit that the very end I didn’t see coming and was a bit disappointed in。 I didn’t see it going that way。 Overall， though – this was a great read！！ This is distributed by Revell which tends primarily to Christian fiction。 This has some slight references to God along with short prayers。 These are not central to the plot though。 Fans of the author and genre will more than likely enjoy this particular read。 Those who’ve read the previous books won’t want to miss out。 I can’t wait to see what Eason has planned next。 。。。more

This is a great suspense story -- well crafted and spellbinding to the very end。 It involves a female ex-military member and a male FBI agent working together to find a killer。 I love stories about FBI agents and I really enjoy a good whodunit so this is a double whammy。 I enjoy this author and her work。I have voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book that I received from NetGalley。 All views expressed are only my honest opinion

This is the 4th book in the Danger Never Sleeps Series。 I did not read the 3 previous books in the series but was captured by the story。 Ava has been through so much in her life and she is still such a strong woman。 I really enjoyed the characters of Ava and Caden。 The author keeps you enthralled in the story and eager to find out what happens。Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc。 The opinions are my own。
