I really enjoyed this book. It is written just like other books from the Wings of Fire series, and I would consider this book to be a prequel to the rest of the series. It's also quite funny. I really liked it, and would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the rest of the series.

Warning: If you read this book, you WILL want to read it again! This book was so good and amazing and oh my gosh! If you think this book looks good, then it's almost like you can PREDICT the FUTURE!!! I know, making book references inside the review for that same book is cheesy, but I saw the chance and took it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Such a great book. Beautifully written, with background stories you never would have guessed. It has the background stories of several memorable dragons, including Darkstalker and Fathom. Truly a five star book!

My kid wanted this series. I was intrigued and have read all in this series. Just finished this book last night. I was enchanted by the backstory. This leads you up to how the series is unfolding giving you some wonderful background history of how and why things have come to be. I couldn't put the book down. I am enjoying the easy writing style, the stories of the characters, the wit, the fun and just everything about this group of books.

If you enjoy a nice easy read, enjoy dragons with flair and character, Tui T. Sutherland has done a great job of bringing the personalities through in the way it's written and you really feel like you are immersed in the books as you are reading. You don't want it to end. You want the next one NOW.

Maybe I should have waited until they were ALL released and just sat down for a major binge reading session!

Dragon want next book NOW!

Best Book Ever! Amazing and well written, this book tells about Darkstalkers life and shows whether he was really evil or not. It tells about how he met Fathom and Clearsight(who were mentioned in book six)and how he was betrayed by them. This was probably Mrs.Sutherlands best book.

I received a free physical copy of this book from Scholastic Press in exchange for an honest review.

When an IceWing dragon prince falls in love with a NightWing and has two dragonets, Darkstalker and Whiteout, it creates a rift between the two tribes. Darkstalker is an animus like his father, Prince Artic, but the two are as different as night and day and get along even less.
An animus is a dragon with magical abilities but that magic comes with a heavy price. No one knows exactly how the magic works but it is thought that the more magic an animus uses, the more they lose their soul, go crazy, and become evil.
Fathom, a SeaWing animus learns this hard truth when his grandfather, Albatross, kills the majority of his royal family. He is then sent to the NightWing tribe to keep an eye on Darkstalker, the NightWing's first and only animus dragon and keep him from using his power.
Clearsight, a gifted NightWing who can see the future clearer than other seers, knows that there is darkness and destruction in the future, as well as war between the IceWing and NightWing tribes, and will do everything she can to make sure those timelines don't happen. But she never anticipated that love would block her 'sight' and hide the worst future of all.

This was my first time reading anything by Tui T. Sutherland and I was not previously aware of the original Wings of Fire series until after I received this. I do believe this is a prequel series and I don't think it is necessary to read the Wings of Fire series first but I will be reading that series soon so I can make a more sound judgement in the future.

I really enjoyed that the characters are dragons.

This book is amazing! The series is targeted towards 3-7 graders I believe, but I just graduated high school and I have a way above average reading level and I enjoyed it. My brother, a 5th grader, also really enjoyed this book. I like how it shows 3 different perspectives, and I think it's important for kids to learn that there are multiple facets to each story. Darkstalker never sees himself as a villain, even after everyone else does. Such a well-written book that every kid will love.

Okay, so my first thought was this:

"I don't want to read this, I could care less about him. What about Moon and Winter and everyone else? I wish the author had just written a book about them, rather then a waste of her time on this."

But my friend, after weeks and weeks of nonstop begging, finally convinced me to read it.
And I think it's safe to say this might be the greatest Wings Of Fire book yet.

It's informative, beautifully written, suspenseful, and overall amazing. After reading it, I even made FAN ART (which I've never done before in my life).

For Wings Of Fire fans everywhere, this is a must read. And even though it doesn't include Sunny, or Moon, or Winter, or Starlight or Glory or Clay, it includes Darkstalker and a bunch of other famous dragons--ones that are legends now, like Albatross, and Prince Arctic. It's absolutely incredible and I can promise you that you will want to read it again and again and again. Plus, you should definitely read it if you are going to continue with the main series--it explains much-needed information.
